Art & Science
Traditional academic programmes separate humanities from science. This dates back to the 17th century, when science became independent from art and philosophy. However, we do need language to express scientific concepts, and artistic renditions of the planets and the stars are still used for science purposes. It takes imagination to understand complex ideas, and imagination uses art to describe those concepts. Language is the link that connects art and science, culture and technology Nowhere is this more true when we speak of the English language. Like art, language is communication, and as computers evolve, a new family of languages, machine languages, are becoming the interface between humans and A.I. This has been the guiding principle that has inspired much of this work.
